CircuitWeave

CircuitWeave is a proposed electrical documentation tool for technicians, contractors and engineering teams who need to turn installation details into structured, maintainable records.

  • In development

Electrical installations often become difficult to maintain not because the wiring is impossible to understand, but because the documentation no longer reflects the installation. Circuit labels may be incomplete, circuit schedules may be outdated, and changes made during maintenance or renovation may never find their way into the original records. CircuitWeave is being developed to make electrical documentation easier to create, update and hand over, with a focus on the practical information needed when inspecting, troubleshooting or modifying an installation.

CircuitWeave is envisioned as a structured workspace for recording the relationship between distribution boards, circuits, loads and protective devices. A user would create a site record, define its boards and circuits, enter relevant equipment details, and generate a consistent circuit schedule or installation record.

The tool could help users record circuit identifiers, descriptions, phase allocation, protective-device ratings, cable details and inspection notes. It could also preserve a history of revisions so that teams can see when records were updated and distinguish current information from older documentation.

The problem it addresses is fragmented or outdated installation records. Rather than relying on separate spreadsheets, handwritten schedules and loosely organized files, a team would have a consistent record that can be maintained as the installation changes.

CircuitWeave is not intended to replace electrical design calculations, professional inspection, statutory certification or engineering judgment. A generated schedule should not be treated as proof that an installation is safe or compliant. The accuracy of the records depends on information entered and verified by a competent person.

The initial development scope should focus on creating and editing site records, maintaining circuit schedules and exporting usable documentation before adding more advanced features.

What it does

  • Creates structured site and distribution-board records
  • Maintains circuit schedules
  • Records circuit and protective-device details
  • Organizes installation notes and revisions
  • Exports circuit schedules and documentation (planned)
